KATRINA LIEBERMAN OF TRINITY UNIVERSIY, a junior setter from Tustin, Calif., has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, August 31st through Monday, September 3rd.
Lieberman led the #11 Tiger volleyball team to a 4-0 record at the Trinity National Invitational over the weekend, including wins over seventh-ranked Gustavus Adolphus and Aurora (receiving votes). Lieberman was named to the All-Tournament team after recording double-doubles in three of the four matches over the weekend, and leading the Tigers to a .232 team hitting percentage. Against #7 Gustavus, Lieberman had 39 assists and a weekend-best 15 digs, as well as recording two blocks, two aces, and five kills. She finished the weekend with her best performance of the tournament, putting up 51 assists to go with 12 digs, two aces, and four kills.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior setter Lizzy Counts of Colorado College dished out 118 assists to help lead her team to 4-0 weekend. Counts also tallied 30 digs and eight blocks in the Colorado College Classic. Senior outside hitter Mayson Kenyon of Austin College led the ‘Roos with 2.53 kills-per-set and 38 kills as Austin College went 3-1 in four matches. She also added four service aces to her stats sheet. Senior outside hitter Jamison Duck of Southwestern recorded 36 kills on the weekend. Although the Pirates fell to 1-3 on the season, her performance earned her a slot on the Pacific Coast Classic All-Tournament Team.
