LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Six Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s tennis teams returned to the court this past week, highlighted by Southwestern traveling to Austin College.

The Southwestern women (8-4; 5-0 SCAC) defeated Austin College (3-5; 1-2 SCAC) 9-0 on Saturday before falling 8-1 to the nation's top-ranked two-year program, Tyler Junior College. In the victory against the 'Roos, the doubles teams of Emma Kesterson and Nina Elez (No. 2) and Alli Ziehm and Mariana Quetzeri (No. 3) both earned 8-0 wins and Elez (No. 3), Taylor Despriet (No. 4), Sydney Wahl (No. 5) and Ziehm (No. 6) each swept their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. Wahl earned the Pirates' only point against Tyler, defeating Momoko Yoshimura in three sets (1-6, 7-5, 10-5) in No. 5 singles to improve to 5-0 this season against scholarship schools.

Schreiner (4-7; 0-1 SCAC) picked up the only other win among conference teams last week, defeating University of the Ozarks, 8-0, on Wednesday. Among the highlights, Blair Villarreal and Katelyn Ruiz swept to an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles and Jennifer Garcia earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles.

In other action, Trinity (5-6; 1-0 SCAC) dropped a narrow 5-4 decision at home against NCAA Division II St. Mary's University on Thursday night. The Tigers fell behind 2-1 after St. Mary's took the final doubles match of the evening, then the Rattlers took the first three singles points to clinch the match. Trinity, however, won the final three singles matches to account for the final score. The Texas Lutheran women (0-7; 0-4) fell to University of the Ozarks (6-1) on Tuesday and Sul Ross (5-4) on Friday and St. Thomas (3-3; 2-1 SCAC) dropped its only match of the week, a 8-1 decision to Prairie View on Friday.
