Centre Hosts NCAA First and Second Round Games; Colonels Take on Guilford (N.C.) in Friday's Opening Round

DANVILLE, Ky. - Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament champion Centre College opens NCAA Division III Championship play on Friday, March 2, when it hosts Guilford (N.C.) College (22-6). The other first-round game at the Alumni Gymnasium on Tom Bryant court features Washington (Mo.) University (20-5) and Ferrum (Va.) College (23-5). The Colonels won the SCAC's automatic bid with a 60-48 win over Millsaps College in the championship game.

Centre is making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2001 when the Colonels advanced to the third round before falling to Ohio Wesleyan. Centre is 2-1 in NCAA postseason play including a perfect 1-0 record at home.

Guilford earned its third NCAA women's basketball bid in school history Sunday with a 57-40 win over Virginia Wesleyan College in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament final.

The winner of the Centre/Guilford game will play the winner of the Wash U/Ferrum game Saturday, March 2nd, at Alumni Gymnasium.
