VON’DARRICK JONES OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a 5-9, 178-pound senior defensive back from Cypress, Texas has been selected the SCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played Saturday, September 28.

Jones recorded an interception for the second straight week, leading the Tiger defense in a 26-3 victory over Austin College.

Jones picked off Austin College’s first pass of the day on Saturday afternoon, which came on just the second play from scrimmage for the visitors. That led to Trinity’s opening touchdown, which proved to be all the defense would need in the end.

Jones and the Tigers held Austin College to just three points in the game, which was the lowest total since a 10-3 win over Millsaps in 2011. He finished with three solo tackles in Saturday’s game, which also included his first career sack.
