BRIAN LAWLESS OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a senior from Lexington, Ky., who is a midfielder on the Tigers' men's soccer team, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending October 25, 2009.
After missing his entire freshman season due to injury,
Lawless has earned two varsity letters and has
scored three goals with three assists in three seasons.
An economics and Spanish double major, Lawless was
named to the DePauw Dean's List twice and to the SCAC Academic
Honor Roll three times. He also was named to the 2008 SCAC Men's
Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team.
Lawless is a member of DePauw's Management Fellows
Program and a Holton Memorial Scholar. As a Presidential
Ambassador, he is part of a highly selective group of students
chosen to represent the University in front of trustees and
prestigious guests.
During the summer of 2008, Lawless attended a
Spanish intensive University in Segovia, Spain, where he also
interned in communication and translation for the city's office of
tourism. He also served as a market research analyst for
Bairexporting Network in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the second
semester of his junior year and was a marketing intern for IMG
World in January 2008.
Since August of 2007, Lawless has served
as a first-year mentor at DePauw and is currently president of
DePauw's Men's Interfraternal Bible Study. Additionally, he served
on the staff of the Young Life camp in North Carolina in the summer
of 2007.
