ALLYSA WARLING OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a first-year runner from Loveland, Colo., has been named the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets run through Sunday, September 6th.
Warling led the Tigers to a fourth-place finish at the prestigious Joe I. Vigil Invitational Saturday in Alamosa, Colo. CC was the only Division III school at the meet.
Warling, who placed seventh overall out of 60 runners with a time of 18:36 for the 5k race, became the first Colorado College freshman in over a decade to lead the team in a season-opening meet. She was also the only non-Adams State runner to finish in the top eight.
The Tigers are idle until Saturday, Sept. 19, when they host the CC Invitational in North Monument Valley Park. The race will begin at 9 a.m.

The 5-foot-4 sophomore from Round Rock, Texas, circled the course in a time of 19:28.01, which was over one minute faster than the next competitor. Freshman Molly McCullough of Trinity University led the Tiger women's team to a season-opening victory at the Alamo City Opener on Tuesday morning. McCullough ran a steady race throughout, earning top honors with her time of 19:41.46, and leading a Trinity squad that saw its top five runners finish within 30 seconds of each other.
