Rebekah Bowden, Austin College, Co-Defensive Player of the Week (Week 9)

REBAKAH BOWDEN OF AUSTEN COLLEGE, a senior middle blocker from Flint, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, Oct. 24 through Saturday, Oct. 28.

She shares the award this week with Glenna Yancey of Colorado College.

Bowden reached a milestone, surpassing 500 career total blocks after totaling seven blocks - including three solo - in a win over Arlington Baptist.

In three matches played last week, Bowden averaged 1.5 blocks-per-set. She also added 1.9 kills-per-set with a .333 hitting percentage. 

Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Senior middle hitter Glenna Yancey of Colorado College tied her season high with six total blocks in the sweep of Cornell, which was receiving votes in the most recent AVCA poll. Junior setter Megan Grimes of Southwestern University averaged 3.63 digs per set and half a block per set in two matches this week as SU went 2-0. Sophomore setter Jaci Chambers of Texas Lutheran University picked up 33 digs this weekend at the Tiger Invitational and tallied 5.33 d/s. In the match against Concordia. Junior setter Amelia Roden of Trinity University finished with 34 digs in 12 sets played, averaging 2.83 digs/set in the three victories at the Tiger Invitational.
