JACI CHAMBERS OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore libero from Baytown, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Co-Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Saturday, September 30th through Sunday, October 1st.
Chambers shares the honor this week with Trinity's Kirby Smith.
Chambers averaged 4.69 digs per set in TLU's four matches on the weekend. She had 21 and 16 digs in wins against Dallas and Centenary, respectively, and also tacked on 20 assists for the weekend.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Senior outside hitter Kirby Smith of Trinity University tallied 41 total digs (3.42/set), finishing with a weekend-best 16 digs (5.33/set) in the win over Dallas to close out the tournament. In addition the digs, Smith finished the weekend with five blocks and averaged 3.08 kills/set in the four matches. Senior defensive specialist Tatiana Ferrari of Austin College totaled 79 digs and 4 service aces on the week for the 'Roos. Senior middle blocker Piper Sisemore of Southwestern University averaged nearly one block per set with a team high of 16 blocks. Senior middle hitter Glenna Yancey of Colorado College had six total blocks for the Tigers as the team swept its four matches at the SCAC Cross Divisional, including victories over #4 Trinity and #5 Southwestern.
