Emily Jorgens, Trinity University, Women's Soccer - Offensive Player of the Week (Week 7)

EMILY JORGENS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior midfielder from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 6th through Sunday, October 12th.

Jorgens became the first player in SCAC history to reach 50 goals and 50 assists in a career over the last week, leading the third-ranked Tiger women’s soccer team to wins over Our Lady of the Lake and Centenary.

Jorgens scored the game-winning goal in Monday’s 4-0 shutout over Our Lady of the Lake, finding the back of the net in the 17th minute of action. On Friday, she scored three consecutive goals in the second half of play for the Tigers. The hat trick in Friday’s win over Centenary marks the third consecutive season that Jorgens has scored a hat trick, and she also scored her 50th career goal during the game. She is the first player in Trinity history to reach 50 goals and 50 assists, and she is now just nine goals from breaking the school record for a career.

For the season, Jorgens leads Trinity with 11 goals and 14 assists for a total of 36 points. She has also scored a team-best five game-winning goals for the Tigers.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Mandi Sherwood of Austin College provided the game winner in a 1-0 victory over Schreiner on Sunday. The goal was her team-leading fourth of the season and her third game-winner of the year. Sophomore midfielder Cascade Mayer of Dallas was responsible for the golden goal in the Crusaders' 1-0 overtime victory at Schreiner on Friday night. It was her second on the campaign, as the netter lifted Dallas to its fourth-straight win, all in conference. Mayer also added a team-high, three shots, in a 3-0 setback on Sunday to Texas Lutheran. Freshman defender Mackenzie Millican of Southwestern scored her second game-winning goal in as many games in a 1-0 win over Centenary on Sunday. Junior forward Sioned Kirkpatrick of Texas Lutheran played a key role in the Bulldogs' offensive outburst against Dallas, a 3-0 blanking on Sunday. She tallied an assist on Zoe Gulick's game-winning goal and followed that up with a goal of her own to make it 2-0. Centenary and Schreiner did not nominate anyone.
