TAYLOR PISKE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Richardson, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets run through Tuesday, September 1st.
Piske led Trinity's men's cross country team to a season-opening victory at the Alamo City Opener on Tuesday morning. Piske finished the 5K run in 16:10.76, pacing the Tigers in finishing with a score of 15 points in the race, and taking top individual honors in the process. He was nearly 13 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor, and that was teammate Austin Brown.
Trinity will return to action on Saturday, September 12, facing off against a number of teams at the OLLU Collegiate Invitational in Windcrest, Texas.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Abraham Devenport of Southwestern University captured the individual title at the Southwestern Opener last Tuesday. The sophomore led wire-to-wire and navigated the three-mile course in a time of 17:38.02, besting the runner-up finisher by over five seconds.
