LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Seven of the eight SCAC men's cross country teams were in action this past weekend.

The Austin College women's cross country team
placed men's team came in fifth at the Austin College
Invitational on Saturday morning, the first cross country meet the

fall. Austin College's Chris Burke placed third
overall with a time of 16:14 to lead the 'Roos. Alex Berghorn also
placed in the top 20, finishing with a time of 18:18 to take

Texas.
Colorado College
Seniors Graham Frank and Nick
Hall once again led the Colorado College men's
cross country team on Saturday as the Tigers finished in 16th place
at the Fort Hays State Tigers Open in Hays, Kan. Running against
mostly Division II competition in the team's final regular-season
meet, Frank completed the 8k course with a season-best time of
25:52, good for 95th place overall. Hall placed 105th with a
time of 26:03, followed by sophomore Ryan Bing in
143rd place (26:39) and junior Tucker Hampson in
149th (26:44). The Tigers are idle next week
before running at the 2014 SCAC Championships on Saturday Nov. 1 in
San Antonio, Texas.
University of Dallas
The University of Dallas men's cross country raced to
a second place finish at the Austin College Invitational on
Saturday. It was the highest ranking for the navy and white this
campaign, as the team totaled 57 points and several players boasted
great performances. Junior Ryan McAnany (Kansas City,
Kan.) set a school record as he posted a 16:07 result. Fellow
classmate Jack Grubner (Needham, Mass.) posted a
time of 17:18 to hit a personal feat. McAnany finished with
season and team-high second place in the final rankings for Dallas.
Joining the junior in the top 10 was junior Javier
Secaira (Tacoma, Wash.), who notched eighth place after he
raced 17:08 minutes. Dallas heads to the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by Trinity University, on
Nov. 1 at San Antonio, Texas.
Schreiner University
The Schreiner men's cross country team only had
four runners this past weekend, but all four continued to show
improvement and it showed in their race times at the Concordia
Invitational. Junior Kevin Perez, as he has throughout
his career, led the way and kept with his good strong improvement
race to race. He ran the course in 18:07 to place 19th
overall. Freshman Ricky Canales and sophomore Connor Ver
Schuur continue to have a great internal competition and again
finished next to each other at the finish
line. The Mountaineers now have just one
race remaining and that is the 2014 SCAC Championships. That race
will be held in Boerne, Texas on November 1st.
Southwestern University
In their final regular season meet of the year, the
Pirates ran well against familiar competition as the men's team
finished in fourth place in their respective 5K meets. For the
start of the men's race the mist had lifted by the overcast skies
remained as SU took to the line. A short, 5K race saw the men fly
off the line and quickly make the turn back towards the
fans. Alex Medrano was in the mix with the leaders early
on, but fell behind just slightly midway through the course and
ended with an impressive top ten finish. He finished in sixth with
a time of 16:45.57. Abraham Devenport was next across
the line for the Pirates and started a burst of SU finishers.
Devenport finished in 19:09.37 for 29th place
and Kyle Bauernschmitt in 19:43.30 for
33rd place. This was the
final regular season contest of the Pirates as they next head to
San Antonio, Texas to compete in the SCAC Championships on November
1st.
Texas Lutheran University
The TLU men's Cross Country produced a third-place finish Saturday
morning at the Concordia Invitational at Old Settlers Park.
Travis Koenig (Fredericksburg/Fredericksburg) just
missed a top 10 showing. The freshman covered the 5K course in 17
minutes, 22.31 seconds and came home
12th overall. Rudolph Calderon,
Donald "Mickey" Manuszewski (Schertz/Steel) and Bond Birkner
followed closely behind Koenig and registered finishes
of 15th, 17th and
18th. The
Bulldogs' next action comes Nov. 1 in Boerne, Texas at the 2014
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by
Trinity University.
Trinity University
Trinity’s men captured the
5,000 meters team title with 19 points at the Concordia Invitre on
Saturday. Three Trinity runners held the Nos. 2-4
positions in the men’s meet, behind unattached participant
Angel Ramirez (15:54.56). Taylor Piske (16:10.61) finished second,

17:06.98). Trinity’s teams will

Championships on Saturday, November 1, in Boerne,
Texas.
