AUSTIN MICHAELIS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Coppell, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, October 12th through Sunday, October 18th.
Michaelis led the eighth-ranked Tiger men's soccer team to a pair of SCAC road victories against Centenary College and Austin College last weekend. Michaelis scored three goals and one assist for Trinity over the weekend, giving him a goal in each of his last three games.
Michaelis capped a string of three goals in just 11 minutes early in the second half by the Tigers against Centenary, then he dropped two goals and an assist in the weekend finale against Austin. He scored the first two goals of the second half to seal the victory, then assisted on the next goal to make it 7-0 at the time.
For the season, Michaelis is now tied for third on the team with four goals, and is just one away from tying for the team lead. All nine of his points this year have come in the last three games for the Tigers.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior defender Nathan Andersen of Colorado College factored in three of Colorado College's four goals during 2-0 victories over Southwestern and Texas Lutheran. Sophomore forward Naseem Said of the University of Dallas scored two of the team's three goals last week. Freshman forward Jake Swonke of Southwestern University scored the game winning goal in overtime against the University of Dallas to secure Southwestern's spot in the SCAC Championship Sunday.
