Women's Tennis Teams Open 2016 SCAC Tournament

KERRVILLE, Texas - Fifth-seeded Schreiner University posted an upset on day one of the 2016 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championship, while Southwestern University and Colorado College each earned 5-0 wins.  Championship WebsitePhoto Gallery

In the first match, the Southwestern University women defeated Centenary College 5-0. The Pirates swept doubles to take a 3-0 lead, then followed it up with a win by Emilie Moeller in singles to clinch the match. In the second match, Schreiner battled Texas Lutheran, earning a 5-4 win. The Mountaineers came into singles play with 2-1 lead, winning at the top two spots in doubles. The Bulldogs took three singles matches, to take a 4-2 lead, but Schreiner stormed back,winning matches at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 to advance. In the final match of the day, Colorado College started off hot, sweeping doubles. They continued their success into singles play, earning wins at Nos. 2 and 4 to clinch the match victory and advance to tomorrow to take on Southwestern.
