Lizzy Counts, Colorado College, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 3)

LIZZY COUNTS OF COLORADO COLLEGE a sophomore from Chicago, Illinois, has been named SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 15th through Sunday, September 17th. 

Counts led Colorado College to four consecutive victories at last week’s Elmhurst Invitational, including a sweep of No. 1 Calvin College and a four-set victory over No. 18 Hope College. The victory over Calvin marked the first time in program history Colorado College defeated the team ranked No. 1 in the AVCA’s Division III Coaches Top 25 Poll.

Counts averaged 9.12 kills, 2.63 digs, 0.75 blocks and .44 service aces per game. She also hit .250 with 13 kills on 32 attacks with five errors.

Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Senior outside hitter Mary Scholz of the University of Dallas continued her streak of leading the team in kills in all matches this season. She included a pair of double-doubles in kills and digs for the weekend. Junior setter Megan Grimes of Southwestern University averaged 11 assists per set while adding 22 kills and a .514 attack percentage on the weekend. Freshman outside hitter Hannah Mikelonis of Texas Lutheran University totaled 20 kills and contribued 22.5 points for the Bulldogs in their matches over the weekend. Freshman outside hitter Avery Tuggle of Trinity University scored over 37 total kills on the weekend to lead the Tiger offense. Freshman outside hitter Mayson Kennon of Austin College lead the rools with 2.1 kills per set.
