JORDIN TOSO OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a freshman goalkeeper from Helotes, Tx., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Monday, September 26th through Sunday, October 2nd.
Toso helped lead the Mountaineers to a 1-0-1 weekend with 2 shutouts against Texas Lutheran and Southwestern.
Toso played 110 minutes in the 0-0 draw with Texas Lutheran, recording 5 saves on the night.
Toso then recorded another 2 saves while playing the full 90 minutes in the Mountaineers 1-0 victory over Southwestern on Sunday.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman goal keeper Mary Cardone of Southwestern University logged 16 saves while allowing just 2 goals, including only one to #3 Trinity. Cardone recorded an impressive .889 goals against average through the two games. Senior goalkeeper Erica Coker of Centenary College recorded a pair of important saves in the 51st minute against Dallas, breaking a 21-year old Centenary record for career saves. She now has 385 saves for her career. Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Severson of the University of Dallas picked up her first career win on Sunday as the Crusaders prevailed 4-3 in overtime against Centenary. On Friday against Austin College, Severson matched a season-high 7 saves against 8 shots faced in a complete game.
