SAVANNAH HIGHT OF TEXAS LUTHERAN
UNIVERSITY, a freshman guard/forward from San
Antonio, Texas, has been selected as the SCAC Women’s
Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday,
February 10th through Sunday, February 16th.
Hight averaged 13.5 points and 5.0
rebounds during a 2-0 week and hit what proved to be the winning
shot in a comeback victory over Trinity
University.
Hight scored 15 points against Trinity
as TLU rallied to win from 21 down. Hight’s jumper in the
lane, with 1:12 to play in the game, gave TLU its first lead of the
game. She added six rebounds against the Tigers.
Against
Southwestern, Hight hit a
pair of three-pointers and scored 12 points with four rebounds, two
assists and two blocks.
With the wins, Texas Lutheran has clinched the No. 1 seed in
the SCAC Women’s Basketball Tournament on February 28th in
San Antonio, Texas in only their first season in the league. The
Bulldogs were only 8-17 a year ago and are not on the verge of a 20
win season.
