ANDY BURKE OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a junior outside back from Cincinnati, Ohio, has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, August 29 through Sunday, August 31.

Burke played smothering defense and scored an overtime game winning goal for the Colonels in a pair of shutout wins on the road over the weekend.  On Friday, Burke and the Centre defense held Muskingum University scoreless and limited their offense to just two shots on goal. Then on Saturday, Burke shut down Trine’s target play with consistent, hard-nosed defending and limited the Thunder to just 3 shots on goal and 2 corner kicks.

The tough play of Burke led the Colonels to their season-opener victory for the seventh consecutive season, and it is the fifth time in the last seven opening matches that Centre has posted a shutout.
