ERIC JONAS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior guard from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, November 25th through Sunday, December 1st.
Jones led Colorado College to a 95-92 victory over No. 21 Whitman with a career-high 26 points, scoring six during the final 30 seconds of the game. The win was CC’s first over a Top-25 opponent since the Tigers posted two victories over Whitworth University in a span of eight days in 2013. In Friday’s 74-67 loss to Sul Ross State, Jonas scored 18 points with 5 rebounds.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Brandon Alexander of Southwestern led the Pirates scoring 16 points, with eight rebounds in Sunday’s win over Hardin-Simmons. Sophomore Cameron Gims of St. Thomas led the Celts to a 2-0 week averaging 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game. Gims had 16 points and nine rebounds in the Celts win over Concordia. Senior Cedric Harris of Centenary led the Gents with a season-high 26 points and 14 rebounds on Saturday against Hardin-Simmons. In Friday’s victory over Howard Payne Harris scored 16 points and had seven rebounds. Junior Dustin Mathis of Dallas had a personal-best 25 in a victory at Whittier College for the University of Dallas in a split at the Whittier/Chapman Classic. Mathis finished with five assists in the win and nine over the two games in the classic. Sophomore Jordan Lippman of Trinity led the Tiger to a 1-1 record with a win over Howard Payne on Monday. Lippman tied his career-high with 19 points in Monday's win, as well as grabbing a career-best 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.
