Jacob McMindes is in his first season as head coach of the Trinity women’s tennis team.
Coach McMindes was the assistant coach of the Tiger men’s and women’s teams during the 2011-12 campaign, under head Coach Russell McMindes, his brother. He served as the men’s assistant coach since 2009. Russell McMindes is in his fourth year as Trinity’s men’s coach.
Both Tiger teams have prospered with the leadership of the McMindes brothers. During the 2012 season, Trinity’s women captured their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship since 2006. The Tigers qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in four years. Trinity’s men won their third straight SCAC title, and advanced to the NCAA postseason event for the third consecutive year.
Prior to joining the Tiger athletics staff, Coach McMindes played four seasons with the University of Incarnate Word – in San Antonio – earning a degree in engineering management in 2009. He was a First Team All-Heartland Conference player, and made Second Team All-Region in doubles, at the NCAA Division II institution.
Coach McMindes won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Region Assistant Coach of the Year award for both the men's and women's teams. He received the honor as men’s assistant in 2011, and repeated the feat in 2012 for his leadership with the Trinity women.
A native of San Antonio, Coach McMindes graduated from Samuel Clemens High School.
