JESSICA MASON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Westminster, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Wednesday, March 26 through Tuesday, April 1. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 7)
Mason earned medalist honors at the West Region Invitational, firing rounds of 73 and 72 to finish at one-over 145, six shots clear of the tournament runner-up.
After hitting four birdies and parring 11 holes, Mason finished with an even 72 on the final day. She came out of the first nine holes on Tuesday two under par and helped lead the 21st-ranked Tigers to a convincing 34-shot team victory at the event.
Mason's win made her a back-to-back champion of the West Region Invitational, and she is now ranked 23rd nationally.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Rachel Harris of Southwestern, along with teammate Sloan Panter, paced the Pirates at West Region Invitational with both finishing at 163 (+19) and tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard. Harris' first-round 79 was the best round of the tournament by any Southwestern player. First-year Haylee Crowder of Centenary earned the Ladies' top finish at the West Region Invitational as she shot a 25-over par 169 (85-84) to tie for 15th place. Sophomore Abby Yanta of Schreiner posted rounds of 80 and 85 to finish at 165 (+23) and in 18th place at the LeTourneau/Eagles Bluff Intercollegiate. Sophomore Paige Zehner of Concordia (Texas) competed as an individual at the LeTourneau/Eagles Bluff Intercollegiate and placed 53rd overall with a two-round score of 202 (107-95).
