WILL SALONY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Monday, September 13 through Sunday, September 19. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 3)
Salony led the Tigers to a 4th-place finish in a field comprised of NCAA Div. I and NCAA Div. II runners at the Naimadu Classic last Friday, hosted by Abilene Christian University. Salony's time of 26:22, despite the early-morning heat, put him amongst the Tigers' top 20 all-time list and is one of the best 8k debuts for a first-year in program history.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Marco Hernandez of Schreiner led the Mountaineers to a fifth-place team finish at the Westside Classic hosted by OLLU in the program’s first meet of the season. Hernandez crossed the line of the 8k course in a time of 30:54, good enough for 42nd. Freshman Austin Szewczyk of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs at the Westside Classic, finishing the 8k race in a time of 31:15 (28th) amidst a field of runners from all NCAA divisions.
