LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country squads continued their 2018 campaigns in the week four of the season.
Texas Lutheran, Austin College, Dallas and Schreiner all competed at the OLLU Saints Invitational 8k race over the weekend. Of SCAC teams in attendance, the Bulldogs were the top team placing fifth overall. Junior Caleb Calderon was the fastest runner for TLU placing 10th with a time of 27:34.7. The next top finisher for the Bulldogs was sophomore Hector Hornedo who finished the course in 30:09.1 (40th). Austin College trailed close behind, placing sixth overall led by freshman Raymond Navarro finishing 25th in 28:51.5.
Sophomore Joseph Kilmer led Dallas to an eighth-place finish after he placed 29th individually with a time of 29:06.0. Schreiner rounded out SCAC squads in 10th. Freshman Refugio Montelongo completed the course first for the Mountaineers with a time of 30:25.8 (46th), while sophomore Joseph Diaz trailed closely behind finishing 47th in 30:29.3.
Trinity competed at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Saturday where they placed 22nd out of 49 teams. In a field of over 400 runners, senior Elliot Blake was the Tigers’ top performer, placing 52nd overall with a time of 25:50.1. Sophomore Harry Bellow also turned in a top-100 time finishing 94th in 26:24.4.
Next weekend the SCAC men’s cross country schedule continues with three teams in action, highlighted by Colorado College and Johnson & Wales competing at the New Mexico Highlands Cross Country Jam.
