SARAH MULLENS OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior libero from Aurora, Colo., has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Co-Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Wednesday, Oct. 11 through Saturday, Oct. 14.
This is the third player of the week honor for Mullens this season.
Mullens shares this honor with Aria Dudley of Colorado College.
Mullens posted two 30-dig performances in four matches over the past week, piling up 103 total digs (6.06/set) over 17 sets played. She was the match leader in digs in all four contests last week, an averaged at least 6.00 digs/set in all four matches.
Against St. Mary's, Mullens finished with 30 digs and four service aces, then had 30 more digs in Saturday's loss to Southwestern. She also had 19 digs and three aces in just three sets against Schreiner to finish off the week.
This season, Mullens is averaging 4.81 digs/set (438 total) and 0.60 aces/set (55 total) to lead the Tigers in both categories.
Other impressive performances in the SCAC:
Junior right-side hitter Aria Dudley of Colorado College led the Tigers with 11 blocked shots and 27 kills on the weekend. Junior defensive specialist Brandi Campos of Southwestern University averaged 4.58 digs per set on the weekend and tallied 26 total digs in the five-set win over Trinity. Sophomore libero Jaci Chambers of Texas Lutheran University had double-digit digs against two nationally-ranked teams on the weekend with 21 against Trinity and 17 against Southwestern. Senior defensive specialist Tatiana Ferrari of Austin College tallied 40 total digs in the 'Roos three games this weekend.
