NEW ORLEANS, La. - A total of nine men's & women's track & field teams from the SCAC earned 2012 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic status, the organization announced today.

SCAC announces Spring 2012 Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll
SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named 1,040 student-athletes to the 2012 SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday. This year's total is the third-highest for a single period in the history of the award.

BSC's Tiarra Goode wins NCAA Division III 100-meter outdoor hurdles national title
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Birmingham-Southern College sophomore Tiarra Goode ran the 100-meter hurdles today in 13.87 seconds to win the NCAA Division III outdoor national championship in that event at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College in Claremont, Calif.

Brian Chafin, Centre College Athletics Director, Announces Retirement
DANVILLE, Ky. - After nearly a quarter century of service at Centre College, Brian Chafin has announced his retirement. Chafin began his coaching career at Centre in 1989 and has served as director of athletics and recreation since 2002.

SCAC Shows Well After Day One of NCAA Track and Field Championships
CLAREMONT, Calif. – The 2012 NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, opened up Thursday. Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) student-athletes produced many quality performances led by sophomore Tiarra Goode of Birmingham-Southern College who qualified with the fastest time in the women's 200-meter dash.

SCAC Releases 2012 Track and Field Athlete-of-the-Year Honors
SUWANEE, Ga. – In exclusive voting by the head outdoor track & field coaches of the conference, Robert Willett and Tiarra Goode, both of Birmingham-Southern College, were voted 2012 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men’s and Women’s Track Athlete-of-the-Year, respectively. Jacob Carter of Centre College was selected the 2012 Men’s Field Athlete-of-the-Year, while Emily Niehaus of Centre and Elizabeth Krug of Hendrix College were selected Co-Field Athlete’s-of-the-Year on the women’s side.

Trinity brings the SCAC Presidents Trophy back to San Antonio
SUWANEE, Ga. - The symbol of conference supremacy is a 300-pound railroad bell that is awarded annually to the conference program with the best overall sports record for that particular academic year.
For a stretch of 12 years - from the early 1990s to the mid 2000s - that bell (with the exception of one year - 2000-01) resided on the campus of Trinity University.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After the first day of competition, the Trinity women are leading the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships. Their one day total of 73 puts them just two points ahead of rival Centre College, and over 30 points ahead of Rhodes College.
