The Tigers earned the SCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament via its 77-65 win over rival Southwestern University in the 2013 SCAC Championship game last weekend. Trinity makes its first appearance in the national tournament since 2008.
Trinity drew the 13th-ranked Lewis & Clark Pioneers in the first round of the tournament. The Pioneers will host the first and second rounds of the tournament. Trinity, coming off its first SCAC title since 2005, enters NCAA play with a 17 game winning streak. The 17 game winning streak is tied for the longest in school history.
The Pioneers are in the NCAA postseason for the third consecutive year after earning an at-large bid to the field of 64 after losing 76-61 to Whitworth University in the Northwest Conference championship game.
NCAA playoff action gets started with tomorrow's first game as Whitman College (20-5) takes on Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion California Lutheran University (23-4) at 5:30 p.m. PST.
Trinity (23-4) will then tangle with host Lewis & Clark (24-3) at 7:30 p.m. PST for the right to meet the Cal Lutheran/Whitman winner in the second round of the tournament on Saturday at 7 p.m. PST.
