Bell selected as Top 30 honoree for 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Thirty women, selected from a group of nearly 430 nominees, have been chosen as the top 30 honorees for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. Among the 30 was former Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athlete Sharwil Bell, who was named the SCAC's Co-Woman of the Year in June.

SCAC announces Spring 2012 Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll
SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named 1,040 student-athletes to the 2012 SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday. This year's total is the third-highest for a single period in the history of the award.

Trinity brings the SCAC Presidents Trophy back to San Antonio
SUWANEE, Ga. - The symbol of conference supremacy is a 300-pound railroad bell that is awarded annually to the conference program with the best overall sports record for that particular academic year.
For a stretch of 12 years - from the early 1990s to the mid 2000s - that bell (with the exception of one year - 2000-01) resided on the campus of Trinity University.

SCAC raises $1,900 for Special Olympics at 2012 Basketball Tournament
SUWANEE, Ga. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), in conjunction with Birmingham-Southern College and the BSC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, raised $1,900 at its annual men's and women's basketball tournament through the sale of autographed basketballs from the various teams competing at the event. SUWANEE, Ga. - Heading into the final weekend of January, both Centre and Millsaps are riding impressive winning streaks (12 and 13 games respectively) and have yet to lose a game in 2012. Individually senior guard Maggie Prewitt of Centre was outstanding last week averaging a triple double with 12.5 points, 12.5 assists and 11.5 rebounds per contest.

SUWANEE, Ga. - As the calendar turns to 2012, Centre, Millsaps and Sewanee are off some of the best starts in recent school history. Centre (10-1) is off to its best start in the SCAC era while Millsaps (10-2) is off to its best start since the 1996-97 season. The Purple Tigers of Sewanee (6-4) enter 2012 off to its best start since the 2005-06 season which also was the last time Sewanee won more than 10 games.

Women's Basketball Recap (Week 3) - Around the SCAC
SUWANEE, Ga. - Conference play got underway this past weekend and four teams came out unbeaten. In the Eastern Division, Centre knocked off Millsaps and Rhodes on the road while Birmingham-Southern defeated Oglethorpe in Atlanta. In the Western Division Colorado College swept Trinity and Southwestern at home while Austin College got its first win of the season against Dallas in its first ever SCAC contest.

Birmingham-Southern College Approved As Full Active Member Of NCAA Division III
