Austin College Fights Back To Take Third Place At SCAC Men's Tennis Championship

COLORADO COLLEGE, Colo. -- The Austin College men's tennis team outlasted a tough Colorado College squad and earned a 5-4 victory Sunday afternoon in the third place match of the 2018 SCAC Men's Tennis Championship. Official Website l Bracket | Postmatch Interview

The victory marks the second consecutive year that Austin College (11-11) has posted a third-place finish at the conference championships, which ties for the program's best finish in the SCAC Men's Tennis tournament since joining the league prior to the 2007 season.

The 'Roos took an early 2-1 lead after doubles with victories at No. 1 (8-6) and No. 3 (8-4). 

Calum Robe extended Austin College's lead to 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles but the home-standing Tigers stormed back with victories at the No. 1 and No. 6 lines to even the match at 3.

After the two split the next singles' matches, it came down to No. 3 singles where the 'Roos Andres Padilla pulled out the 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 victory to clinch the match for Austin College.
