COLIN UECKER OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Kerrville, Texas, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for competitions played through Tuesday, October 18th.
Uecker won his third collegiate golf tournament by prevailing in a three-person playoff Tuesday at the Alamo City Classic which was contested at The Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio.
Uecker parred the first two playoff holes to edge Trinity's Travis Hindle and fellow Bulldog Kraig Zimmerhanzel for the individual win. Zimmerhanzel was eliminated after the first playoff hole, and Hindle was eliminated on the second playoff hole after a bogey.
Uecker and Zimmerhanzel led TLU to a second-place finish in the men's team final standings. TLU posted a 287 on Tuesday after a 295 on Monday for a final team score of 582. The Bulldogs ended up five shots behind tournament champion, and host, Trinity (577).
Other outstandings performances in the SCAC:
Travis Hindle of Trinity University led the Trinity men's team to a come-from-behind victory at the Alamo City Classic, firing a final round best 67 (-4) as the Tigers pulled ahead to defeat SCAC foes Texas Lutheran and Schreiner. Hindle finished with a two-day total of 141 (-1) but lost in a playoff for medalist honors. Matthew Chrisit of Southwestern finished in a tie for fifth with a two-day total of 143 at the Alamo City Classic.
