BLAKE HARTFORD OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a first-year golfer from Spring, Texas, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for competitions played through Tuesday, October 11th.
Hartford added to an impressive start to his college career with a collegiate-best score of 68 in the final round of the Division III Golfweek Fall Invitational, leading the Schriener men to a final round 293 as the Mountaineers moved up one more spot to finish 16th in the elite event.
Hartford placed 13th overall which is impressive considering he wasn't even in the top 50 after his first round on Sunday. By shooting 72-68 over the final 36 holes, he moved past most of the field as he totaled 217 for the tournament.
Other outstandings performances in the SCAC:
Erik Hamm of the University of Dallas posted a career-low 73 in the second round of the UMHB Fall Invite and finished with a personal best score of 150 over the two days. Hamm helped pace the Crusaders both rounds and finished in the top 20 in a field of 63 participants with a tie for 15th.
