NORMAN, Okla. - The Southwestern University men's golf team is ranked 12th in the latest Golfworld WGCA coaches poll - the first rankings of the 2013 spring season. The Pirates were 20th at the end of fall season.

Southwestern opens its spring season March 11-12 at the Texas Lutheran University Invitational at the Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas.

Trinity University was one of 23 schools outside of the top 25 to received votes. The Tigers men finished in third place at the Schreiner Spring Shootout, kicking off the team's spring season.

Former SCAC member, Oglethorpe University, opened the spring season with a victory in a dual match with Emory, and remains the top-ranked program in the first men's Division III coaches' poll of the spring. The Stormy Petrels claimed two team titles in four fall tournament starts, helping them earn 11 of the 16 available first-place votes in the poll.
