SCAC announces Spring 2009 Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll
SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named a record 1,029 student-athletes to the 2009 SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday. This year's total eclipsed last year's previous record of 948 student-athletes.

Men's Basketball Recap (Week 13) - Around The SCAC
SUWANEE, Ga. - With one weekend left in the regular season, teams are fighting for SCAC tournament berths. The Millsaps Majors earned a much needed weekend sweep of eleventh-ranked Trinity University and Southwestern University and currently sit in fourth-place in the Western Division. Meanwhile, Sewanee secured the fourth and final Eastern Division tournament berth by sweeping Birmingham-Southern and Rhodes Feb. 13 and Feb. 15.

SEWANEE, Tenn. – After trailing 23-16 at the half, Sewanee rallied on Birmingham-Southern, getting the 57-52 comeback men’s basketball win Friday night in Juhan Gym. Friday’s win marked the 100th career win as a college head coach for Sewanee’s Bubba Smith.

Men's Basketball Recap (Week 12) - Around The SCAC
SUWANEE, Ga. - With only two weeks left in the regular season, the final berths in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference basketball tournament should go down to the wire. Hendrix College, the most recent team to earn a conference tournament berth, did so by sweeping a pair of SCAC games at Colorado College and at Austin College. That brings the total number of conference tournament teams to five of eight.

Men's Basketball Recap (Week 11) - Around The SCAC
SUWANEE, Ga. - In the final SCAC cross divisional of the season, the DePauw Tigers were able to do what no other conference team could upto this point. The Tigers ended Trinity's 15 game winning streak with a 61-54 home win. Elsewhere in league action, four of the eight spots in the upcoming SCAC Basketball tournament were wrapped up the weekend of January 30-February 1.

Men's Basketball Recap (Week 9) - Around The SCAC
SUWANEE, Ga. - The first weekend of SCAC East/West Crossover action saw Centre, DePauw, and Oglethorpe all keep pace as the three teams are still tied for first place in the East Division at 5-1. In the West, Trinity stretched its winning streak to 13 straight with two league wins to move to 6-0. Hendrix, Austin, Southwestern, Millsaps and Colorado College are now seperated by a mere three games for second through sixth-place.

Men's Basketball Recap (Week 8) - Around The SCAC
SUWANEE, Ga. - Tenth ranked Trinity escaped from Georgetown, Texas with a 75-73 win over the Southwestern University Pirates to extend the Tigers' win streak to 11 games back on January 9. In SCAC East action, DePauw's Mike Moore continued his hot play by averaging 29.5 points per game in two league wins, as they have now won five straight games.

SUWANEE, Ga. - Behind Mike Moore's 30 points, the DePauw Tigers snapped Centre's 22 game regualr-season SCAC winning streak with a 78-74 home win. Elsewhere in the SCAC West Division, Trinity continued its winning ways by extending its winning streak to 10 games with two league wins.

TAMPA, Fla. - Mike Moore had a game-high nine assists in DePauw's 76-56 victory over Drew in Monday's opening round of the Tampa Shootout. The nine assists give the senior 501 for his career, making him the league's all-time leader in the category.

SUWANEE, Ga. - Several SCAC teams were in action leading upto the Holiday break the week of December 15-21. Sixteenth ranked Centre and twenty-second ranked Trinity each completed 2-0 weeks at the Stormy Petrel Classic and Southwestern/Trinity University Holiday Classic, respectively. DePauw senior guard Mike Moore moved into second place on the all-time DePauw and SCAC assists lists, while his Tigers nearly upset Division I Indiana State on the road.

For Roberts, 50-year old basketball game leads to a new NCAA record
SEWANEE, Tenn. - Recently, during some routine cleaning out of files, an AP article surfaced describing a 53-rebound effort by Sewanee grad Jim Roberts (C'59) in a 57-49 victory over Lambuth on February 24, 1958. This past Thursday morning, the NCAA verified Roberts' performance as the all divisions single-game NCAA record.

SUWANEE, Ga. - SCAC play began the weekend of December 5-7 and saw three teams escape the weekend with undefeated records. No. 23 Centre College and Trinity University both finished 2-0 in league play while Hendrix College ended the first weeke of SCAC play with a 1-0 mark.

Smith Returns to Tennessee to lead Sewanee Men's Basketball
SEWANEE, Tenn. - Ryan “Bubba” Smith has been named the 21st coach in Sewanee’s 84 seasons of varsity men’s basketball, according to Mark Webb, Sewanee’s athletic director. “Coach Smith brings proven experience to Sewanee after serving at the helm of a successful basketball program that is steeped in tradition. He is an outstanding teacher of the game and is well-respected throughout the ranks of the basketball coaching community,” added Webb.
