TREVOR GRIFFIN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior pitcher from Tucson, Ariz., has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 26th.
Griffin led Trinity's baseball team to a key comeback win over Our Lady of the Lake University on Tuesday, which was the only game of the week for the Tigers.
Griffin sat down 19 consecutive hitters after coming on in relief in the third inning, allowing the offense to get on track with seven runs in the seventh and eighth to complete the come-from-behind win.
Griffin entered the game with two outs in the third, and the Tigers trailing 3-0 already. He proceeded to throw 6.1 perfect innings, striking out eight batters, and earning his first win of the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore right-hander Matthew Devillier of Centenary College moved to 7-0 on the season with a run-shortened complete game win against the University of Dallas, giving up just five hits while striking out four and allowing no runs. Sophomore left-hander Caleb Allen of Schreiner University helped lead the Mountaineers to a 13-2 win over Southwestern, pitching 7.0 innings and striking out eight while allowing just one earned run. Junior right-hander Dylan Drgac of Texas Lutheran University pitched 6.1 innings in a 9-4 win over Austin College, striking out fivve and walking just one.
