CHRIS TATE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior pitcher from Chandler, Ariz., has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday February 26th.
Tate came on in relief to pitch the Tigers to a 5-4 12-inning victory in game one of the weekend series at Sul Ross.
Tate threw 6.2 shutout innings to finish Friday's game, giving up no hits and just one walk, while striking out eight batters.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Josh Lewis of Austin College improved to 3-0 on the eason with a complete game victory over University of the Southwest, allowing just one unearned run on four hits. Senior Grant Debevec of Centenary College allowed just two hits and a walk while fanning seven in a 5.0 inning performance Friday. Junior Payton Stanford of Schreiner University helped the Mountaineers to a 3-0 weekend, earning two saves and retiring all six batters he faced. Sophomore Nathan Malinovsky of Texas Lutheran University tossed a complete game and didn't allow any earned runs as the Bulldogs defeated McMurry 4-2.
