Zachary Oretsky, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 12)

ZACHARY ORETSKY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior infielder from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, April 23rd.

Oretsky led Trinity to a 3-1 record last week, including a key three-game weekend sweep of Austin College that solidified the team's spot in the SCAC Tournament.

Oretsky finished with a .438 (7-16) overall batting average for the week, as well as a blistering .538 (7-13) clip in conference play. He added three runs scored and nine RBI to pace the Tiger offense. Oretsky had a double in each of the three SCAC games last week, finishing with a 4-5 performance in the series finale. He had two hits and four RBI in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader, then collected four hits and three RBI in the final home game of the season for Trinity.

For the season, Oretsky is now hitting .252 (32-127) with 23 runs and 25 RBI, and the three doubles this week were the first of the year for the Tiger shortstop.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior infielder Aaron Quintanilla of Centenary College helped the Gents' take 2-of-3 from in-state rival Louisiana College, Adding a triple to up the career triples record for Centenary. Sophomore outfielder Enrique Vigil of the University of Dallas recorded hits in all three games this weekend at Schreiner University. The outfielder knocked three doubles in the series - with one coming per game. Senior outfielder Ben Little of Southwestern University hit .429, slugged .643 and reached base at a .600 clip to lead the Pirates to a series victory at Texas Lutheran last week. Sophomore infielder Thomas Varner of Texas Lutheran had a hit in each game of the Southwestern series and hit .357 for the week. He drove in four runs in the middle game of the series and reached base at least twice in all three games.
