MICHAEL SCHIMPF OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior outfielder from Shreveport, La., has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday February 5th.
Schimpf recorded a hit in all four games over the weekend, helping Centenary to a 3-1 start.
Schimpf came up big in the second game of a doubleheader at Redlands, hitting for the cycle in five at-bats, recording four RBI and two runs scored.
In the weekend finale, Schimpf went 2-for-3 against Occidental, scoring a pair of runs.
For the week, Schimpf hit .471 with five runs scored and six RBI.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outfielder Sam Pistrui of Schreiner University led the Mountaineers to a 1-2 week hitting .500 with three runs scored and two RBI. Sophomore short stop Thomas Varner of Texas Lutheran University scored six runs and collected four hits in seven at bats to propel the Bulldogs to a doubleheader sweep of Concordia (TX).
