SCAC announces Spring 2012 Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll
SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named 1,040 student-athletes to the 2012 SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday. This year's total is the third-highest for a single period in the history of the award.

Shelton Steps Down as Southwestern's Head Baseball Coach
GEORGETOWN, Texas - Jim Shelton has been a fixture in the coach's box for the Southwestern baseball team, but after 19 years in the program has stepped down as the head coach. Shelton spent 11 seasons at the helm and was the assistant coach under Jim Mallon for eight years prior to being named head coach.

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - Trinity University advanced to the 2012 NCAA Division III West Regional championship game with an elimination game 6-5 victory in 11 innings over Coe College. Unfortunately for the Tigers, they came up short against Whitworth University in the regional championship as Whitworth earned a trip to the Division III World series with a 9-2 win.

Trinity brings the SCAC Presidents Trophy back to San Antonio
SUWANEE, Ga. - The symbol of conference supremacy is a 300-pound railroad bell that is awarded annually to the conference program with the best overall sports record for that particular academic year.
For a stretch of 12 years - from the early 1990s to the mid 2000s - that bell (with the exception of one year - 2000-01) resided on the campus of Trinity University.

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – For the second consecutive year, Birmingham-Southern produced the league’s Offensive Player-of-the-Year as Bruce Maxwell earned the honor while Ben Klimesh of Trinity University repeated as the league’s Pitcher-of-the-Year in exclusive 2012 All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) voting by the conference’s head coaches. Baseball Recap (Week 7) - Around the SCAC
SUWANEE, Ga. - Multiple pitching performances stood out during the week as Rhodes' Matt Burnick, Centre's Joe Nash and Trinity's Ben Klimesh all displayed dominant efforts on the mound during the week of March 12-18.
Burnick was named SCAC Pitcher of the Week after throwing a 9-inning complete game against Denison. He scattered six singles and struck out seven. Nash threw a complete game while earning a win over sixth-ranked Rowan. Nash struck out two and yielded just two earned runs. Klimesh rounded out the pitching gems by tallying 14 strikeouts in his eight innings of work in a 7-1 win over Austin College.

CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix College head baseball coach R.J. Thomas won his 100th career game on Sunday as the Warriors defeated Southwestern University 11-1 in seven innings at Warrior Field. Southwestern University Mourns the Loss of a Legend
GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern University mourns the passing of baseball coaching legend, Coach Jim Mallon. Mallon, 67, passed away Sunday afternoon following complications from heart surgery. Services for Coach Mallon will be held on the campus of Southwestern University at Rockwell Field on Saturday, March 3 at 2pm. There will be a reception with light refreshments immediately following the service in the Robertson Center.
